>> Ben Dirickx (Genk, 1985) has worked for over 10 years in various contexts and environments in the fields of architecture and urbanism. His international experiences have enabled him to develop a transversal view on urban challenges across different scales and contexts.

In Paris he worked for uapS on the major urban transformation of Ile de Nantes, a 350 ha island in the Loire right in the heart of Nantes. At uapS he also worked on several masterplans in the Belgian context like Deinze, Ekeren, and Diepenbeek.

For Studio Egret West in London, Ben worked on major urban reconversion projects such as Vicarage Field, a shopping mall to be converted in a mixed use neighbourhood just next to London and Coldhams Lane, the design of an ecological neigbourhood in Cambridge.

Back in Brussels, Ben worked three years for team Brussels Bouwmeester using research by design as a tool to mediate between public and private partners and to define competition briefs.

At VELD, Ben takes a leading role in the urban design projects and reinforces the expertise in research by design.
