COMPLEX PROGRAMMES
VELD approaches the development and reorganisation of complex public programmes as an opportunity to explore how buildings, functions and public spaces can be brought together within a coherent spatial vision. Through feasibility studies and masterplans, we investigate how different needs and ambitions can be translated into qualitative and realistic spatial proposals.
Working closely with clients and stakeholders, we explore different scenarios to find the right balance between functional requirements, spatial opportunities and financial constraints. Research by design allows us to test the feasibility of programmes at different scales, while ensuring sufficient flexibility to accommodate changing needs and future developments.
Projects such as the study on the public patrimony of Wambeek, the masterplan with integration of a public library on the Kortrijk Buda-eiland, the research on the centre for people with disabilities Sint-Lodewijk in Wetteren, the masterplan for the redevelopment of the school site Vroonhof in Poperinge and the new school in the Bourgoyen neighbourhood in Ghent explore how complex programmes can be integrated into their surroundings, creating meaningful connections between buildings, landscapes and the wider urban context.
