PUBLIC ADMINISTRATIONS
VELD specialises in the reorganisation of public administrations and takes this as an opportunity to rethink their relationship with public space and the wider urban context. We define the client’s needs collaboratively, seeking the right balance between must-haves and nice-to-haves.
Spatial and financial constraints are carefully studied to ensure the feasibility of the programme, while ambitions are defined with enough flexibility to accommodate change over time. Where necessary, we zoom in to the architectural scale to inform decisions at the urban scale: how different parts of the programme are oriented, how entrances articulate public spaces and how logistical challenges can be resolved.
Masterplans for new administrative centres such as Heist-op-den-Berg, Moorslede, Dendermonde, Ninove, Ganshoren and Herselt explore how public functions can be reorganised, combined and repositioned to respond to changing needs while strengthening connections within towns and cities.
